‘Echo of the Winds’

With the support of the Parnassus Museum/Steinway & Sons, ‘Echo of the Winds’ was initiated by Wenhan Jiang and Cicely Hé with the intention of bringing these rarely heard works of British art song to China, using music to guide poetry from Elizabethan to Victorian times.

The entire concert features a selection of vocal and vocal music from eight British composers – Henry Purcell, John Dowland, Benjamin Britten, Roger Quilter, Ralph Vaughan Williams, George Butterworth, Frank Bridge and Elizabeth Lutyens’ vocal and chamber music works, combined with instrumental adaptations and chamber music dialogues, reveal a lesser-known side of British works to Chinese audiences.
